The Chemical Abuse Services Agency (CASA) is a private non-profit community behavioral health organization that has worked in Bridgeport since 1987 and now also serves New Haven. Its supportive residential recovery runs as 90-day transitional programs for men aged 18 and over — two houses, one of ten beds and one of fourteen, both with 24-hour support — alongside withdrawal management, intensive outpatient and outpatient care, with longer stays sometimes available through the PILOTS program. CASA describes its care as culturally responsive, shaped around the Latino, African-American and LGBTQ+ communities it serves, and aimed at the trauma, shame and isolation underneath the substance use.
