About ChooseHelp.com

Last updated: May 2026

Our Mission

ChooseHelp.com exists to help people find their way to recovery. Substance use disorders affect millions of people across all walks of life — and finding the right treatment shouldn't be a barrier to getting better. Our mission is to make that search a little easier, a little clearer, and a little less frightening.

You Don't Have to Face This Alone

Recovery starts with recognising that help is available. ChooseHelp.com provides free, independently maintained information on addiction, mental health, treatment options, and what to expect from the recovery journey. Detox from alcohol or prescription drugs can be physically dangerous — we help you understand when and how to seek professional medical support.

If you or someone you know is in crisis right now, please reach out to the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline (call or text 988) or the SAMHSA helpline at 1-800-662-HELP (4357) — both are free, confidential, and available 24/7.

What We Offer

  • Facility directory — a searchable, manually reviewed directory of state-licensed and accredited addiction treatment centres, detox programmes, sober living homes, and outpatient services across the United States.
  • Recovery A–Z — over 600 articles covering addiction, mental health, therapy modalities, medication-assisted treatment, and the science of recovery — written and reviewed by licensed clinicians.
  • Expert Q&A— licensed counsellors and clinicians answer questions from the community through detailed, searchable Q&A threads.
  • Transparent listings — our directory includes both sponsored (Premium and Featured) and complimentary listings. Paid placement is clearly labelled; editorial content is independent of advertising.

How We're Funded

ChooseHelp.com is funded through directory advertising — treatment facilities and providers can purchase premium or featured placement within the directory. Paid listings are always clearly marked. Revenue from advertising allows us to keep our editorial content and facility search free for users.

We do not accept payment for editorial coverage, and we do not operate a paid referral helpline. If you call a phone number listed on a facility's profile, you are calling that facility directly.

Our History

ChooseHelp.com was launched in 2007 and has grown into a recognised addiction treatment and mental health resource serving hundreds of thousands of visitors each year. The site is independently owned and operated by Schoelco, an independent online publisher headquartered in Berlin, Germany, with an office in Santa Monica, California.
