Chemical Abuse Services Agency (CASA)

The Chemical Abuse Services Agency (CASA) is a private non-profit community behavioral health organization that has worked in Bridgeport since 1987 and now also serves New Haven. Its supportive residential recovery runs as 90-day transitional programs for men aged 18 and over — two houses, one of ten beds and one of fourteen, both with 24-hour support — alongside withdrawal management, intensive outpatient and outpatient care, with longer stays sometimes available through the PILOTS program. CASA describes its care as culturally responsive, shaped around the Latino, African-American and LGBTQ+ communities it serves, and aimed at the trauma, shame and isolation underneath the substance use. Medicaid coverage is accepted, some cases individually evaluated, along with Medicare, private and military insurance, state funding, public assistance and self-pay.
