Non-profit and government-funded treatment organisations provide essential care. We recognise that with a dedicated badge and a listing families can call directly — at no charge, with nothing to upgrade to.
Non-profit badge
A teal Non-Profit badge appears on your facility card and detail page, letting families know your organisation is EIN-verified and mission-driven — not profit-motivated. Publicly operated facilities — VA, state, county, tribal — carry a Government-Funded badge on the same terms, with no EIN needed.
A phone number families can call
Your number is shown on your profile and in the mobile call bar. Everywhere else on ChooseHelp a visible phone line is a paid Sponsored-listing feature — non-profit and government-funded facilities get it free, together with a free claim and no upgrade prompts on your page.
Like every free listing on ChooseHelp, your profile carries display advertising and a compact Nearby Sponsored Listings module. Those are flat-fee advertising placements — never referral fees — and they have no effect on where your facility ranks.
How to apply
- 1Claim your free listingIf your facility is already listed, use the Claim it free link on your profile page to take ownership. If it is not listed, submit a new listing.
- 2Indicate non-profit statusIn the operator dashboard, select Non-profit organisation and upload your EIN determination letter (IRS Form 1023 approval or equivalent). Government-funded facilities skip this step — if we already hold your public-operator status, the claim form confirms it and no EIN is requested.
- 3We verify and activateOur team reviews your EIN documentation, typically within two business days. Once confirmed, the Non-profit badge appears on your listing automatically. A Government-Funded badge is applied from your recorded operator type, with nothing to submit.

Is this free forever?
Yes. The badge, the visible phone number and the listing itself are free for verified non-profit and government-funded organisations for as long as they remain listed on ChooseHelp. We may introduce optional paid enhancements in the future, but the core benefits will stay free.
Does my page still show ads and nearby facilities?
Yes. Free listings — including non-profit and government-funded ones — carry display advertising and a small module of nearby sponsored facilities. Those placements are sold at a flat fee, never per call or per enquiry, and they do not influence your position in search results or on state pages.
What counts as a confirmed non-profit?
Any US-registered 501(c)(3) treatment organisation with a current IRS EIN determination letter qualifies. Government-funded status is taken from the operator type we hold on record — VA, state, county, tribal, federal — and needs no EIN. We do not currently verify non-profit status in other countries, though we plan to add that.
Does the badge affect my search ranking?
The badge is a trust signal for families — it does not affect your search ranking on ChooseHelp. Ranking is based on data completeness, reviews, and geographic relevance.
Can for-profit facilities get the Non-profit badge?
No. The badge is reserved for EIN-verified non-profit organisations only. Misrepresentation of non-profit status will result in badge removal and listing suspension.
