Accessibility Statement

Last updated: May 24, 2026

Our Commitment

Schoelco (the operator of ChooseHelp.com) is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We continually improve the user experience for everyone and apply relevant accessibility standards so our resources — addiction treatment guidance, mental health information, and the facility directory — are available to all people seeking help.

Conformance Status

We target WCAG 2.2 Level AA conformance as the baseline, and also work toward compliance with:

  • ADA Title III (Americans with Disabilities Act — US)
  • EU Accessibility Act (EAA), effective 28 June 2025
  • BITV 2.0 / EN 301 549 (applicable to German-operated services)

ChooseHelp.com is partially conformantwith WCAG 2.2 AA. “Partially conformant” means that some parts of the content do not fully conform, primarily in legacy-migrated editorial content. We are actively remediating these gaps.

Technical Specifications

Accessibility of ChooseHelp.com relies on the following technologies working in combination with your browser and assistive technology:

  • HTML5 semantic markup
  • WAI-ARIA 1.2 roles, states, and properties
  • CSS (Tailwind v4)
  • JavaScript (React / Next.js App Router)

Assistive Technology Support

We test with and support the following assistive technologies:

  • NVDA + Firefox (Windows)
  • JAWS + Chrome (Windows)
  • VoiceOver + Safari (macOS, iOS)
  • TalkBack + Chrome (Android)
  • Keyboard-only navigation (no pointer required)
  • Windows High Contrast mode
  • prefers-reduced-motion — all animations are suppressed when the user has enabled reduced-motion in their OS settings

Known Limitations

The following known limitations exist and are on our remediation backlog:

  • Legacy editorial content: Articles migrated from the Plone CMS may contain images without alt text or tables that lack proper header associations. We are remediating these as we review and refresh content.
  • Third-party embeds: Content served by third-party providers (maps, widgets) may not fully conform to WCAG 2.2 AA. We work with our providers to improve this.
