Gateway, located just south of Richmond, in Chesterfield County, is a non-profit provider of residential mental health care services for adults diagnosed with illnesses like Schizophrenia, Bipolar Disorder, and Depression.

Highlands Community Services is the Community Services Board for Washington County and the city of Bristol, Virginia, and this Abingdon campus provides outpatient and intensive outpatient treatment for mental health and substance use disorders. The agency has served the area for more than fifty years, covers intellectual disability services as well as behavioral health, and runs a crisis support line around the clock. It takes Medicaid, Medicare, private and military insurance and state funding, and offers a sliding scale to clients paying for themselves.

Fernwood Counseling Center is the Mount Rogers Community Services Board's site for Carroll and Grayson counties and the city of Galax, offering counseling, psychiatry and intensive outpatient care for mental health and substance use disorders, with same-day access intakes every weekday — so a person who decides to seek help on a Tuesday morning does not wait weeks for an assessment. Mount Rogers is a not-for-profit governed by a fourteen-member board and has served southwest Virginia since 1972. Uninsured or underinsured clients may be given a capped fee under its sliding scale, or can apply for financial assistance; Medicaid, Medicare, private and military insurance and state funding are all accepted.

Mount Rogers Community Services provides behavioral health, developmental disability, and substance use services across southwest Virginia, with residential and crisis programs at its Marion campus on Hospital Avenue. The public services board serves Bland, Carroll, Grayson, Smyth, and Wythe counties and the city of Galax.

Life Center of Hillsville is a residential addiction treatment program for men age 18 and older, located on a 100-acre campus in Hillsville, Virginia. Part of the Life Center of Galax network, it offers a clinically managed 24-hour residential program and a partial hospitalization program (PHP), supported by a multidisciplinary team of doctors, nurses, and counselors. Life Center of Hillsville accepts Virginia Medicaid and most commercial insurance, but does not currently accept Medicare.

Grayson Youth and Family Services is the Mount Rogers Community Services Board's site in Independence, Virginia, working with young people and their families in Grayson County on mental health and substance use concerns through counseling and intensive outpatient care. Same-day access intakes run every weekday.
