Youth & Family Services of North Central Oklahoma

Youth & Family Services of North Central Oklahoma was founded in 1974 to provide emergency shelter for children affected by abuse, neglect and delinquent behavior, at a time when the Garfield County jail was the only temporary shelter available to them. From its West Oxford Street base in Enid it now runs an emergency youth shelter, outpatient counseling and intensive outpatient services, a partnership with Enid Public Schools, and the treatment arm of Garfield County's specialty courts — the adult drug court running since 2004 and the juvenile drug court since 2000. Its adolescent substance use work uses the Adolescent Community Reinforcement Approach, a named evidence-based model rather than a general youth counseling offer, and services range from drug and alcohol education through outpatient counseling to referral. Funding comes from private donations, city, county, state and federal grants, Medicaid, private insurance, United Way and client fees. Medicaid, Medicare, private and military insurance and state funding are accepted, a sliding fee scale applies by family size and income, and eligible clients are not denied services for inability to pay.
