Desert Mountain Healing

Desert Mountain Healing IOP provides structured outpatient substance use disorder treatment in Rio Rancho, New Mexico, serving Rio Rancho, Albuquerque, Sandoval County, and surrounding communities. Our 90-day Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) offers morning and evening treatment options, with attendance individualized according to each client's clinical needs and treatment plan. Services include group and individual counseling, case management, relapse prevention, medication-assisted treatment (MAT), medication management, medical support, peer support, and continuing recovery services. We work with adults from a variety of backgrounds, including individuals involved with treatment courts and the criminal justice system, veterans, LGBTQ+ clients, and Spanish-speaking clients. Our goal is to provide compassionate, structured, evidence-based care that helps each person build the skills and support needed for long-term recovery.

At Desert Mountain Healing IOP, we believe recovery is personal and treatment should meet each person where they are. Our approach combines compassion, accountability, evidence-based practices, and individualized treatment planning to address substance use and the challenges that can affect long-term recovery. We focus on helping clients understand patterns of substance use, develop healthy coping skills, strengthen relapse-prevention strategies, rebuild relationships, improve daily functioning, and create a sustainable recovery support system. Treatment may include counseling, peer support, case management, medical and medication support, recovery education, and connections to community resources. We believe lasting recovery involves more than stopping substance use. It includes building purpose, responsibility, healthy relationships, stability, and the skills needed to create a meaningful life in recovery.

Getting started at Desert Mountain Healing IOP begins with a conversation about your needs and whether our program is an appropriate fit. Our team will gather basic information, discuss treatment needs, answer questions, and review available payment or insurance options. When appropriate, the next step is a comprehensive intake and clinical assessment. This helps our treatment team understand substance use history, medical and behavioral health needs, current circumstances, recovery goals, and the appropriate level of care. An individualized treatment plan is then developed based on the client's needs. If our program is appropriate, we work to make the transition into treatment as straightforward as possible. When a different level of care or service is needed, we can help identify appropriate treatment resources and next steps.
