The Alcohol & Drug Awareness Center for the Concho Valley runs the Journey Recovery Center on Journey Drive in San Angelo — residential substance use treatment alongside detox, outpatient care and recovery residences. ADACCV is a private 501(c)(3) non-profit whose work in San Angelo goes back to a council founded in 1960 and a detoxification center opened in 1978; along the way it absorbed the Women and Children's Halfway House, reopened in 1997 and renamed Sara's House in 2001, which is why family-inclusive residential care is part of what it offers rather than an add-on. The organization is licensed by the Texas Health and Human Services Commission for outpatient and intensive residential services and accredited by CARF. Most private insurance is accepted alongside Medicaid, Medicare, military insurance and state funding, there is an affordable self-pay program, and ADACCV states that no patient is turned away for inability to pay.
