Outpatient Rehab

Courage Center runs a 12 to 16 week intensive outpatient addiction treatment program in Gorham, Maine, for people on low incomes in recovery from substance use disorder. The program is secular and MAT-friendly — medication for opioid use disorder is not a barrier to taking part — and it is led by people with their own lived experience of addiction and mental illness. It works particularly with people moving away from both addiction and incarceration. Payment can be made through Medicare or military coverage.

Bishop Health provides intensive outpatient treatment for substance use disorders in South Portland, Maine. The program serves adults and offers individual counseling and group therapy in a structured IOP format. Bishop Health accepts Medicare and private health insurance for treatment services.

Outpatient Rehab

Crooked River Counseling provides outpatient and intensive outpatient substance use and mental health treatment from offices in Rumford and Bridgton, Maine, both on hospital campuses. Founded in 2005 in Norway, Maine, the practice later added an intensive outpatient program and helped build one of western Maine's first integrated office-based medication-assisted treatment programs, working with regional primary care practices so that MAT is available close to home. Treatment starts with an intake assessment and an individual plan, reviewed every 30 days for IOP participants and at least every 90 days otherwise. Medicare and private insurance are accepted.

Health Affiliates Maine is a statewide mental health and substance use agency serving Mainers of all ages in all sixteen counties. It provides intensive outpatient and outpatient substance use treatment, case management, behavioral health home services and veterans' support, while also supporting Maine's behavioral health professionals. The agency accepts Medicare, Medicaid, private insurance, military coverage, state funding and self-pay.

MaineHealth Behavioral Health provides outpatient and intensive outpatient addiction treatment in Springvale, Maine, for adults with co-occurring mental health and substance use conditions. Being part of MaineHealth — a not-for-profit integrated health system serving Maine and parts of New Hampshire — means behavioral health care here connects to the rest of a patient's medical care rather than sitting apart from it, with evidence-based therapy, medical oversight and aftercare planning. MaineHealth accepts Medicare and Medicaid, and private and military insurance are also taken.
