California Recovery Center (CRC) runs a full continuum of addiction treatment across several locations in Roseville, California, just north-east of Sacramento — medically supervised detox including alcohol detox, residential inpatient care, a partial hospitalization program, intensive outpatient and regular outpatient treatment, and an ongoing aftercare and alumni program. Its inpatient and outpatient programs are separately licensed by the California Department of Health Care Services, the inpatient service is accredited by The Joint Commission, and the center is a NAATP member; it also operates a state-licensed DUI program and treats co-occurring substance use and mental health conditions. Neurish Wellness provides residential mental health and dual diagnosis treatment in Orange County, California. The program operates luxury psychiatric facilities at the Glenmere and El Toro campuses, treating primary mental health conditions alongside co-occurring substance use disorders. Neurish is licensed and accredited with a focus on clinical and holistic care.

Valley Star provides residential mental health treatment in San Bernardino, California. The program serves adults with activity therapy, group therapy, case management, and psychiatric services. Valley Star accepts Medicare, private insurance, and offers a sliding fee scale.

Anza Wellness and Recovery runs intensive outpatient and partial hospitalization programs in San Bernardino for substance use, mental health and dual diagnosis, on an integrated model that treats physical and mental health together. What sets it apart is what it does about housing: the center has partnered with local agencies to provide temporary housing for eligible homeless and economically disadvantaged clients for the duration of their program, and clients can combine IOP or PHP with a structured living environment. For someone whose treatment would otherwise fail for want of somewhere to sleep, that is the deciding detail.

McAlister Institute, founded in 1977, is one of San Diego County's largest alcohol and drug treatment providers with 24 programs across the region. Pathways provides residential drug and alcohol treatment in Marysville, California, serving adults 18 and older from the greater Northern California region. Newport Academy in Orange County, California provides residential mental health and substance use treatment for adolescents ages 12–20. Founded in 2008, the program integrates clinical therapy with academic support so teens can continue their education during treatment. Treatment addresses depression, anxiety, trauma, and substance use through individual, family, and group therapy. Newport Academy accepts Medicaid, Medicare, TRICARE, and several private insurance plans.

Penny Lane Centers is a 501(c)(3) non-profit that cares for more than 3,500 abused and neglected children, young people and families every month across Southern California. Its substance use treatment sits inside that child-welfare mission rather than beside it, and the organization runs an Alternative Response Crisis Response Team in partnership with the City of Los Angeles — an alternative to a police response when a family is in crisis.

His House 9th Street Apartments in Upland is the structured sober-living and residential arm of the His and Her Houses network, which has treated substance use disorders in Southern California since 1994. This site provides residential care and partial hospitalization with faith-based programming and dual-diagnosis support; the network's facilities are gender-specific, so men and women are treated separately. His House is accredited by The Joint Commission and licensed and certified by California's Department of Health Care Services, publishing its facility license numbers and expiry dates. Detox is available within the network rather than at this address, so someone who needs it can start there and step down to here. Medicaid, Medicare, private insurance and state funding are accepted.

Advanced Therapeutic Services runs outpatient addiction and behavioral health treatment from two Southern California sites, in Barstow and Rancho Mirage. Its clinical lineage is unusual for an outpatient program: co-founder Jim Herndon co-authored an abstract in the ASAM Journal of Addictive Diseases in 2005 finding that buprenorphine detoxification improved patient retention, and that protocol went on to be recognized nationally as a model for opiate detox. Josie Ramirez-Herndon, the founder and chief executive, has worked in behavioral health and addiction services since 1987. The program is a Blue Distinction Center by Anthem Blue Cross and holds CARF accreditation.
