About Volunteers of America Northern Rockies
Volunteers of America Northern Rockies runs addiction treatment, mental health services, veteran support and housing programs from its North 15th Street site in Laramie. Established in Sheridan, Wyoming in 1985 as part of Volunteers of America — a faith-based ministry founded in 1896 and now working in 46 states — it is a 501(c)(3) organization whose health care services are CARF accredited, and whose Wyoming residential facility is also White Bison certified, reflecting the Wellbriety approach to recovery in Native communities. The campus has separate accommodation for men, for women, and for women with young children. Veteran services run alongside treatment: transitional housing, employment services, outreach and suicide prevention, with 2,909 veterans assisted. Medicaid, Medicare, private and military insurance are accepted, and payment assistance is available.
