Volunteers of America has worked in the United States since 1896 and is designated tax-exempt under section 501(c)(3); in Texas its wider work includes 41 housing sites for seniors and people with disabilities, rapid re-housing and reintegration programs for homeless veterans, community re-entry services for people leaving prison, and addiction treatment for women including those who are pregnant or have children. Medicaid, private and military insurance, state funding, public assistance and self-pay are accepted.

The organization offers structured programming including individual and group counseling, relapse prevention, life skills training, and transitional housing services. PYHIT serves adults and has multiple program locations in the Greater Capital Region. PYHIT accepts Medicaid, Medicare, and private insurance. As a community-based nonprofit, the organization provides services to underserved populations and operates housing programs including the Crandall House and Schuyler Inn for clients in early recovery.

Alpharus Health – Chicago Independence provides residential and outpatient drug and alcohol treatment on West Taylor Street in Chicago, part of a network founded in 1968. The location offers medically supervised withdrawal management, intensive outpatient and standard outpatient programming, and a recovery home. It accepts most major insurance plans, including Medicare, private insurance, military insurance and state-funded coverage. The operator was known as Gateway Foundation until August 2026; the name changed, this location and its programs did not.
