Adult outpatient care begins with a comprehensive assessment covering both substance use and mental health, and then draws on cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing and medication-assisted treatment. Intensive and lower-intensity outpatient tracks run in parallel, with length of stay varying from short to long term. The opioid treatment program pairs daily medication — methadone, buprenorphine, or extended-release naltrexone as a monthly injection — with individual and group counseling. Therapy work concentrates on interpersonal effectiveness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, anxiety and depression management, unresolved grief, childhood trauma, chronic pain and vocational exploration.
