Men-Only Detox Clinics

The Ranch is Ranch Recovery Centers, Inc.'s men's residential campus in Desert Hot Springs, in operation since 1972. It houses up to 43 men in dormitory settings within an organization that also runs Hacienda Valdez for women and a family program, and lists several commercial insurers plus Medi-Cal information.

Serenity Cottages of the Desert is a men's residential addiction treatment center near Baker, California, deep in the Mojave Desert and a long way from anywhere — which is the point of the setting. Medical detox is the first stage, with medication-assisted treatment available, and the program combines conventional therapy with yoga, meditation and art therapy. Private and military insurance and self-pay are accepted, and the center works with carriers including Kaiser Permanente, Health Net, Cigna, Aetna, Blue Cross, United Healthcare and TRICARE.

The Christian Guidance Center is the residential substance use treatment and detox program of Detroit Rescue Mission Ministries, a faith-based non-profit that has served Detroit's homeless and addicted communities since 1909 and now reaches more than 1,600 men, women and children a day. Treatment for men here sits inside one of the city's largest housing providers, so recovery is connected to shelter and continuing support rather than ending at discharge. DRMM is recognized by CARF and is an IRS-recognized tax-exempt organization. Medicaid, military insurance, state funding, public assistance and self-pay are accepted.

Camelot of Staten Island runs a 45-bed intensive residential program for men with substance use disorders on the Sea View Hospital campus, opened in 2012. It is operated by Camelot Counseling, a 501(c)(3) non-profit licensed by the State of New York that has worked on Staten Island since 1971, when a group of local business people from the North Shore Kiwanis Club opened a storefront program for troubled young people. Camelot opened the island's first 25-bed substance use residential facility in 1992, and now also provides counseling for adults, adolescents, children and families, with adult outpatient services for men and women. Medicaid, private and military insurance, state funding, public assistance and self-pay are accepted, with a sliding scale.
