About Yerachmiel Donowitz
As a young boy I felt it was important to help others. When I saw that people were suffering and they were basically physically healthy, I knew I could help. Originally I was trained as a therapist and specilized in working with people who had problems with addiction. Over time I added on other areas of expertise to be able to assist a larger population. There are those people who hesitate to go to a therapist so I was trained and received certification as a Board Certified Coach.
What I do
I work as a therapist helping people relieve their pain and stress as they negotiate the seas of live. Every person has a purpose in life. I believe this is part of my mission.

Is it dangerous to have a 6 pack once in a while if I am taking maintenance Suboxone? Before you say anything about addiction problems I can tell you I have never been a big drinker but I hate being that person who can’t have a few with the guys while on a Sunday afternoon. I just want a normal life again and that includes sensible drinking for me.

I am really determined to quit. I am not ever going to try to inject my Suboxone or anything extreme like that. Is there any advantage to taking subutex over Suboxone if I am sure I am not going to try to use this medication for abuse purposes?

My daughter in law is an alcoholic. They have 2 young kids that are 7 and 9 and they come home from school half the time to see her passed out on the couch from the wine she opened with lunch. My son does not want my help because he is actually scared of losing her and he says she is trying. She wont even talk to me any more after I told her to get help and I told her she was being a neglectful mother. I should not have said this but I was emotional. Everyone seems to want to let things go on just as if this was normal or O.K.. It is not fair to the kids to have their mom drunk when she is supposed to be taking care of them. The 9 year old is the classic perfectionist miniature adult because she has to take care of her mother and she is very anxious. She does not act like a child and she is so serious. What can I do to help her since her parents want to sweep the problem under the rug? I get to see them once a week when they stay over with me once a week on Saturday nights so the parents can have a break which actually means go out and party.

Can government addiction science be 100% trusted? Is it possible that vested interest groups, like pharmaceutical companies exert some influence over studies and science and important evidence based recommendations. I would hope not, but you only have to look at the USDA and wonder if big business can influence nutritional recommendations (low fat with lots of sugar and lean meat anyone…) why could they not influence publish health recommendations (Suboxone really is better…actually you’d better stay on it for a really long time…actually maybe you should never stop taking those expensive pills…)

I have been on norcos for 8 months. I am taking 12 10/325s per day. I know this is not a huge habit but trust me I am very addicted and I cannot stop just yet. The issue I have is that I have a knee replacement surgery scheduled for the early August. I am only 42 but chronic knee injuries from running and sports have led me to have no choice but to go full surgery. It’s also how I got introduced to pills but at this point I would be lying if I said I was taking these just for pain. So here is my worry. Obviously my doctor is not prescribing me all these pills but he does prescribe me some. I do not want to admit what I have been doing and have this on my medical records. However, if I do not reveal to him how much I am taking I am really scared that I will get insufficient pain relief during and after surgery – since they won’t account for my high tolerance. I plan to go on Suboxone after I recover from my surgery maybe by September. But I am not sure how to proceed until then. Should I be very worried about getting insufficient pain relief if I do not reveal my high tolerance?

One reason why I got addicted to lortabs was because they really took away my anxiety. I have an anxiety problem and now I want to quit and I am really scared that my anxiety is going to be a big problem,. I am wondering if I should go ahead with Suboxone. Will Suboxone help me manage my anxiety in the same way that regular opiates do? If it won’t I don’t think it will really work for me.

Should I use tramadol to help me taper off norcos? How long can I take tramadol for before I get addicted to it? I have heard that it can help with withdrawal symptoms but if you get addicted it is a bad one to detox from. Also, one of the hardest things for me to deal with during withdrawals is the restless legs I get when I try to sleep. They make it impossible to sleep and they are so bad it is hard to not just take a pill? What is the best way to minimize them? Are you familiar with the Thomas Recipe for opiate withdrawal at home? I see it mentioned a lot on different support forums and I was just wondering what as expert would think of it? Are there any risks to trying it this way? I am a 3 year norco addict.

I started smoking weed when I was 15 and I have always smoked it without ever getting addicted or ever having a problem with it at all. I figure it’s about as dangerous for me personally as a 2 espresso a day habit. I believe that some people can get addicted to it I just know that I am not one of those people. I did really mess up with opiates last year and now I am on Suboxone. My doctor said she wanted to drug test me for compliance and I was like cool and then she came back and said I had tested positive and I was like no way! Because I was sure she was only talking about opiates and then she told me I had tested positive for THC and that if I had another positive test she was going to discharge me as a patient, which would mean I would have to do methadone. WTF! Weed does nothing but keep me from getting stressed and relapsing. Does she really have the right to do this to me? Like I said, I am not addicted so I have stopped, but it just makes my recovery harder and more joyless.

I am addicted to opiates. It’s a long story but I have made a mistake and I am ready to change and I am going to start tapering down and white knuckling it soon. The challenge I am facing is I suddenly have to travel to the UK to present at a conference. This is quite unexpected and I am to fill in for a colleague. I don’t really have the option to decline this invitation. I obtain my opiates illicitly. I do not relish the thought of crossing international borders with illegal drugs. I also do not relish the thought of ‘doctor shopping’ …manufacturing some symptoms to try to get drugs. I can’t bring myself to do that (although I may have to). What I want to know is if I go to a doctor, perhaps a specialist in addiction medicine, and explain my situation, would it be possible to obtain a short prescription, just to get my through a 5 day stint, and then I could start my tapering process. If a doctor would help me with this tapering process that would be even more preferable. I just don’t much go in for cloak and dagger stuff and deception.

I am a heroin injector. I have tried to quit before but I always find a reason to use again before the worst is though. I want to try again soon. I am wondering if it will be easier if I switch to taking Oxycontin or something similar orally for a week or so before trying. If it's not going to help I don't want to do it because it will cost me a lot. Is there any opiate that's easier to jump from that I should switch to now?

I have been on Suboxone for over a year and I am really scared to stop using after reading so many horror stories about how hard it is on the internet. What I want to know is how likely is it that I will go through PAWS after having been on opiates for so long. I have been using Subs for more than a year and pretty much every other kind of opiate for about 8 years before that.

If a person has used enough meth to get to the point where they are feeling bugs crawling under there skin do they need to go to drug rehab for sure? My step sister has been living with her boyfriend for about 6 months and I have not seen her for a while and when I went over yesterday I was blown away at how screwed up she was acting and how haggard she looked. I am not sure if I should tell my dad or not about the state she is in so I would like to know if she needs extreme help or not first.

I have an addiction to lorcet and vicodin. I am a grade 2 teacher and I am just starting summer break. I can’t believe I am in this position but things got very crazy over the last 2 months of school and there is no way I can go back to teach again in September unless I can get off these pills before then. I hate to admit it but I was barely ‘there’ sometimes in class by June and it wasn’t a safe situation for the students. I have about 2 months to get clean. I have been using these pills for about 8 months and really abusing them for about 5 or so. I am looking at a rapid opiate detox because that would have me clean in a couple of weeks and able to ‘recover’ for about 6 more before going back in. Is this as good as doing a drug rehab? I am willing to do whatever it takes to get clean and I never want to be in this position again.
