I am a heroin injector. I have tried to quit before but I always find a reason to use again before the worst is though. I want to try again soon.  I am wondering if it will be easier if I switch to taking Oxycontin or something similar orally for a week or so before trying. If it's not going to help I don't want to do it because it will cost me a lot. Is there any opiate that's easier to jump from that I should switch to now?

The best way for anyone to come off an opiate, for most people is to use Subutex followed by Suboxone. You may feel you do not want to substitute a medication for a drug and just want to be done with it all, but it is important to look at the long term picture. Just quiting does not work for most.
