More about Greenbrook TMS

Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) is a revolutionary treatment that offers longterm symptomatic relief. Studies published in recent years have shown a significant reduction in depressive symptoms of patients receiving TMS treatment. In one study performed with vets having PTSD, suffering with anxiety as well as depression, all participants showed improvement to varying degrees, and for many the results were quite dramatic. In addition to its effectiveness, TMS has few if any side effects, and none of the negative side effects that accompany antidepressants and shock therapy (ECT).

Admissions Process

Find Hope Here, Effective Depression Treatment If you or your loved one is suffering from depression and have tried various medications and therapy without the results that you need and deserve, we can help. At Achieve TMS we use a multidisciplinary approach to treat each individual who is experiencing depression, anxiety, and related conditions. We work with healthcare providers to achieve optimum outcomes using TMS therapy, also called Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation. Safe & Effective Approved by the FDA in 2008, TMS has proven to be the safest, most effective treatment for many of our patients. TMS delivers magnetic pulses across neural pathways to activate mood centers in the brain and naturally combat depression and anxiety, also creating lasting change. During the initial consultation, we'll help you determine whether or not TMS is right for you.

Generally, the qualifying criteria for the insurances include (one or more) of the following:

  • Failure to respond to pharmacologic antidepressant treatments
  • Failure to respond to additional augmentation strategies, and
  • Failure to respond to some from of psychotherapy, such as cognitive behavioral therapy.

Treatment and Philosophy

TMS treatment for depression Many people have treatment resistant depression, where antidepressants have helped little if at all. Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation is an excellent alternative. Also, whether or not antidepressants have helped previously, TMS can still be effective. And if you have undergone shock therapy or electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) without success, TMS can help—without anesthesia or electrical shocks. How TMS works A covered magnetic stimulating coil is strategically placed on the patient's head. A magnetic field generated from the coil passes through the skull and creates a current that affects the action of neurons in the brain responsible for mood. Unlike antidepressants and other medications, TMS has a long-lasting effect. Some people may need additional treatment months later, while others enjoy longterm relief.
