Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center is a non-profit pediatric academic medical center in Cincinnati, Ohio, offering inpatient psychiatric and substance use treatment for children and adolescents. The hospital’s Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry provides residential-level care for youth with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders, with specialized programming for hearing-impaired patients. Cincinnati Children’s is one of the oldest and most distinguished pediatric hospitals in the United States, founded in 1883.

The Cincinnati VA Medical Center on Vine Street provides substance use disorder treatment for veterans at residential, intensive outpatient and outpatient levels, within the VA health system. Its residential facility works on more than the substance use itself: 24-hour care there addresses homelessness, mental health and unemployment alongside addiction, which is what distinguishes a VA domiciliary program from a standard rehab. The campus also provides mental health care, PTSD treatment, homeless veteran care, caregiver support and primary care, and works with Disabled American Veterans and county veterans affairs directors to arrange transport. Care runs through VA benefits — Medicaid and Medicare are not accepted here — with private and military insurance, public assistance and self-pay also recorded.

Talbert House's ADAPT program provides residential substance use treatment for men and women on Oak Street in Cincinnati. Talbert House is a non-profit community behavioral health organization serving southwest Ohio across prevention, assessment, treatment and reintegration — the last of which shapes what residential care here is for: getting someone back into work, housing and family life rather than only through withdrawal. Medicaid and Medicare are accepted here, along with private and military insurance.

Sunrise Treatment Center provides intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) for substance use disorders at multiple locations across Ohio, including Cincinnati, Dayton, Columbus, and Portsmouth. The program takes a harm-reduction-informed approach, grounded in the understanding that recovery often takes multiple attempts, and offers dedicated tracks for opioid use, alcohol, other drugs, mental health, problem gambling, and pregnancy. Sunrise accepts Medicaid, Medicare, military insurance, and private health insurance. Services include medication-assisted treatment, individual and group counseling, and supportive housing.
