Livengrin Foundation has treated drug and alcohol addiction in Pennsylvania since 1966, when a Philadelphia advertising executive, Standish Forde Hansell, converted a 50-year-old country estate on 44 acres at Bensalem into a non-profit for people with alcoholism. The campus still occupies those 44 acres and now holds three modern residential houses alongside detox, intensive outpatient and outpatient programs, plus intervention services and a dedicated gambling addiction program. Livengrin gives preferential admission to four priority groups — pregnant women, overdose survivors, people who inject drugs, and veterans — and provides resources for uninsured and under-insured patients. Medicaid, private and military insurance, state funding and self-pay are accepted.
