York County Shelter Programs is a non-profit in Alfred, Maine, providing residential substance use and mental health treatment as part of a broader housing and social services mission. The residential program serves adults with co-occurring disorders, with structured living, case management, counseling and peer support — and because the organization's core work is shelter and housing, treatment here is connected to somewhere to live afterwards rather than ending at discharge. MaineCare (Maine's Medicaid program), Medicare and private insurance are accepted, and the organization serves people regardless of ability to pay.

Recovery Maine Inc operates two state-licensed facilities in southern Maine offering abstinence-based transitional housing and substance use treatment for adults: Innovation House in Saco, which can accommodate up to 44 men, and Restoration House in North Berwick, which houses up to 8 women. Both locations are monitored 24 hours a day and offer onsite outpatient counseling for prior residents and their family members. Recovery Maine accepts Medicare, military insurance (TRICARE), state funding, and self-payment.

NFI North provides residential treatment, community-based services, and educational programs for children, youth, and families across Maine. Services include foster care, infant and early childhood mental health, and community case management.

Milestone Recovery has provided low-barrier recovery, shelter, and detoxification services in Portland, Maine since 1967. The nonprofit serves adults facing substance use disorder and homelessness through a full continuum including medically monitored withdrawal, 30-day residential treatment, extended care, and emergency shelter. No one is turned away because they cannot pay.
