More about Wilmington Treatment Center

Wilmington Treatment Center has built a nationally recognized reputation as a leading drug & alcoholism rehab and it has long standing relationships with the medical and mental health communities as well as The Joint Commission.

Wilmington offers different levels of care - comprehensive detox, inpatient, outpatient, day treatment and aftercare services - that are designed to maximize the strengths of each person. Individualized treatment incorporates medical and mental health services with a focus on personal growth in recovery and includes the 12-step philosophy and principles, relapse prevention, and other therapies. We also provide an intensive family program to help the friends and family of the addicted individual. The experienced and multidisciplinary staff is comprised of friendly, caring individuals who have been chosen for their sensitivity and insight.

The Wilmington Treatment Center admires the courage required to take the first step in the journey to overcoming chemical dependency. Recovery is more than just stopping an addictive behavior; it is creating a new lifestyle filled with fresh insights and extraordinary opportunities. Through treatment, one can experience the powerful strength of support and learn the coping skills and strategies to stay clean and sober for a lifetime.

Our individualized treatment program incorporates medical and mental health services with a focus on personal growth in recovery and includes the 12-step philosophy and principles, relapse prevention, and other therapies. Successful recovery encompasses several changes including improvement in self esteem, interpersonal relationships, improvement in family interaction, vocational productivity, the establishment and attainment of realistic life goals and a healthy lifestyle.

Wilmington Treatment Center offers different levels of care designed to maximize the strengths of each person. Our programs give clear recognition to the disease concept and focus on the individual as a person with dignity and self worth. The following six problem areas are addressed in making placement decisions and the subsequent formation of an individual's treatment plan:

    1. Acute intoxication and/or withdrawal potential

    2. Biomedical conditions and complications

    3. Emotional/behavioral conditions and complications

    4. Treatment acceptance/resistance

    5. Relapse potential

    6. Recovery Environment

Recreation therapy includes sober living education and horticulture. Clients have the opportunity to visit local sober living houses before discharge. Some of our groups are gender specific and the average length of stay is 28 days.

Detoxification Treatment

We utilize Methadone, Suboxone for Opiates, and Librium for Alcohol. There are no limitations. All patients must be ambulatory and we do not do I.V.s.

Inpatient Addiction Treatment

Comprehensive inpatient treatment is provided for those individuals needing a 24 hour supportive, structured atmosphere. This level of treatment also provides medical and nursing services which include detoxification.

Day Treatment

Partial hospitalization or day treatment is provided for those individuals who need structured services, but who do not require 24 hour medical management or clinical supervision. In some instances, housing arrangements may be made for those patients who live outside the immediate geographic area or for those whose return to a previous living environment may not be conducive to continued sobriety. Once you have been stabilized, you may be transitioned off-site to one of our houses. This means that you will be transported by our staff each morning to and from our facility.

Our Day Treatment houses are staff monitored during breaks and evenings.
At the day treatment level of care, you will be allowed money for the purchase of soft drinks, cigarettes, snacks, and take-out food. We offer off site AA/NA meetings for clients in day treatment. (Outside meetings are also held on campus)

Outpatient Services

Wilmington Treatment Center provides DWI assessments and treatment programs. We also provide assessments to determine the specific needs of substance abuse problems. Specialized treatment groups are offered as well as comprehensive individual and group therapy programs. Family and couples therapy is also available.

Aftercare Services

Our clients receive 12 weeks of free aftercare at any of our three outpatient offices.

Alcoholics Anonymous & Narcotics Anonymous

Patients may attend AA or NA meeting in house or in the community. Families of patients are introduced to Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous to show support and to help them understand the recovery process.

Family Rehab Program

Because chemical dependency affects the entire family, families of all clients are strongly encouraged to participate in the family program. Our family therapist is a Masters level Certified Marriage and Family therapist. This intensive family program is designed to facilitate the healing process of the family system as a whole. We have a two day family program that meets every other week. Any family member can attend. We recommend that they come the second session while their family member is here. They will be introduced to the disease as well as Al-Anon programming. It is an intensive group session that is from 1-5pm each day.

Dual Diagnosis Services

Assessments are made by the Wilmington Treatment psychiatrist on staff.
