Our professional staff of physicians, counselors and nurses provide clients with an interdisciplinary team that effectively manages their individualized care, in an environment of dedication and caring that is remarkable. Many of our team have experienced the miracle of recovery and know that it is more than just a hope, it is a reality.

Addiction Treatment Philosophy
Our program philosophy at Starlite Recovery Center is based on the understanding that the disease of addiction affects the entire person: encompassing the body, mind and spirit. Therefore, treatment must address each of these areas to be successful in the recovery of the whole person.

Family Rehabilitation Program
The family program is typically scheduled between the 2nd and 3rd week of the stay, and consists of a 3 day weekend (Fri, Sat and Sun).

Friday is an education day for family members only (disease concepts, etc.) Saturday and Sunday programming consists of more interactive work between the client and family members (communication exercises, discussions about co-dependency, etc.)

Adult Treatment Program

The Adult Program serves male and female clients ages 18 and up. This program is generally 30 to 35 days in length; changes in lengths of stay are considered on an individual basis and are based on clinical needs. All adult clients are assigned a primary case manager and also to a small group to engage in group process.

Individual Counseling is employed for all clients unless clinically contraindicated. Clients meet with their primary counselor at least weekly to engage in individual counseling and personalized treatment planning.

Family Counseling/Family Contact is an integral part of SRC's work. All clients are encouraged to include family members in their treatment through phone calls with counselors, conference calls, live family-sessions, and participation in the Family Program.

Group Counseling is a focused group counseling session, which deals with issues identified by either clients or counselors. All adult clients engage in small process groups at least 4 days per week for an hour-and-a-half per session.

Alcohol and Drug Seminar is an educational lecture/discussion session, which deals with specific issues pertaining to chemical dependency. Content will vary according to client's needs.

Life Skills Group This group consists of educational lectures/discussions using topics including identifying personal triggers, developing strategies to avoid triggers, identifying personal relapse dynamics and improving and utilizing sober support systems, stress management, coping skills, anxiety, anger, self esteem, and communication.

Spirituality Group deals with spiritual issues that contribute to emotional well-being and a life free of chemical dependency.

Educational Groups are provided to give understanding in areas affecting our daily living and are holistic in approach.

Interpersonal Communication Skills Groups deal with specific problems in verbal and non-verbal communication among people.

Specific Theme Groups are prescribed by the treatment team to meet special client needs which cover such issues as family dynamics of addiction, anger management, addiction transference, dual disorders, relationship addiction/recovery, stress management techniques, and other special topics.

Recreational/Activities Groups These are held daily and are designed to enhance the emotional, physical, and cognitive well-being of our clients. Activities are used that foster interaction among our clients. This may include sports, games, outings, and physical education. Yoga and meditational exercises are offered at least 4 days per week.

Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous Groups are an integral part of the SRC program. All clients are encouraged to attend both in-house and offsite meetings.

Step Study - "Big Book" is a discussion meeting that addresses the Alcoholics Anonymous, Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions, and other relative literature. The discussion meetings are educational and therapeutic in nature.

Adult Core Programs:

Adult Detoxification Program

• Utilizes accepted detox protocols
• Closely monitors the client's physical functioning
• Fully staffed with nurses 24/7, daily physician visits and 24 hour on call physician coverage
• Clients are encouraged to attend daily programming as the physical condition allows

Adult Residential Program

• Educates the client and family as to the symptoms and impact of the substance use disorders
• Staffed with counselors and technicians
• Fully staffed with nurses 24/7
• 24 hour on call physician coverage
• Clients are expected to attend all daily programming

Adult Day Treatment Program

• Continue educating the client and family as to the symptoms and impact of the substance use disorders with additional focus on supporting the client's integration back into the home environment and using the coping skills learned in treatment
• If necessary, clients may arrange to stay on campus 24 hours a day
• All meals may be taken on campus
• Staffed with counselors and technicians
• Nurses administer medications to resident clients
• Physician is on call

Adult Intensive Outpatient Program

• Continue educating/assisting the client and family as to methods for improving individual and familial relationships
• Assists the individual in returning to the work environment and solidifying sober support network
• Provides a forum to discuss and receive support while coping with daily work stressors
• Requirements of the outpatient program include:
• attending 12-step recovery meetings
• obtaining a sponsor
• being active in working the 12 steps
• agreeing to random UA testing
• Clients are monitored as to their follow-ups with other professional services such as meeting with a therapist or physician

Family Program

SRC emphasizes the importance of the family system in all of its programs and tracks. To that end, SRC provides an intensive, 3-day, family program, which includes a combination of education, family and multi-family group process, and skills building.

To provide the best opportunity for change, it is of the utmost importance that family members and/or significant others participate in the family program. The Family Program provides family members with education as to dysfunctional family patterns and of the disease process of addiction. Clients and Families alike will also receive instruction as to strategies for change.

Education - clients and their family members engage in the following education sessions:

• Family Systems and Addictions
• Neurobiology and Addiction
• Enabling
• Boundaries
• And other issues that may come to light during the weekend

Group Process - family members engage in several small process groups during the weekend. Additionally, clients and their family members engage in a multi-family group process following their communication exercise. Group activities include:

• Processing issues around enabling and boundaries
• Communication
• Fears
• Other issues brought up during the weekend

Communication Skills Building - clients and their family members engage in a multi-family group communication exercise in which they:

• Identify likes and dislikes
• Express emotions
• Identify goals and commitments for recovery

Personal Recovery Planning - family members and clients work together to create a personal recovery plan. This is the culmination of the education and work done in classes and groups throughout the weekend. Discussion includes but is not limited to:

• Ongoing treatment expectations
• Living arrangements
• Support group expectations
• Financial issues
• Employment and education issues
• Boundary setting.

Supportive Visits Can Benefit Everyone

Family members and friends of those in treatment are encouraged, at appropriate times, to support the person in treatment to healthier and more positive lives and relationships.

Rehabilitation for Impaired Professionals

The Impaired Professionals' Track falls beneath the umbrella of the Adult Program. This track serves male and female clients who have a professional license that may be impacted by their substance use disorder. Others are considered on a case-by-case basis. Clients who have benefited from this track include teachers, physicians, mental health therapists, nurses, and lawyers.

This is a 45-day program; changes in lengths of stay are considered on an individual basis and are based on clinical needs. All clients in the program are assigned a primary case manager and also to a small group to engage in group process. Guests in the Impaired Professionals' Program reside in The Lodge, a 2-story, house-like structure which is separate from the main building. Clients in this track are assigned to a specific case manager and small group.

Treatment modalities:

Intensive Outpatient Program

• Continue educating/assisting the client and family as to methods for improving individual and familial relationships;
• Assists the individual in returning to the work environment and solidifying sober support network;
• Provides a forum to discuss and receive support while coping with daily work stressors.
• Requirements of the outpatient program include:
  • attending 12-step recovery meetings,
  • obtaining a sponsor,
  • being active in working the 12 steps;
  • and agreeing to random UA testing.
• Clients are monitored as to their follow-ups with other professional services such as meeting with a therapist or physician.

Teen Program

The Adolescent Program serves male clients between the ages of 13 to 17. This is a 45-day program; changes in lengths of stay are considered on an individual basis and are based on clinical needs. All clients in the program are assigned a primary case manager and a small group. Another important feature of this program is provided through SRC's contract with Center Point ISD. Through independent study several days per week, clients in the Summit House Adolescent Program can earn high school credit while obtaining treatment for their substance use disorders.

Adolescent treatment modalities:

Individual Counseling is employed for all clients unless clinically contraindicated. Clients meet with their primary counselor at least weekly to engage in individual counseling and personalized treatment planning. Clients may also meet periodically with the Director of Youth and Adolescent Services as the need arise.

Family Counseling/Family Contact is an integral part of SRC's work. This is considered especially important in the Adolescent Program. Parents are contacted by the primary counselor, coordinator, or the Director of Youth and Adolescent Services at least weekly via telephone and are strongly encouraged to engage in individual family sessions with the primary counselor and also in Family Program..

Group Counseling is a focused group counseling session, which deals with issues identified by either clients or counselors. These groups are held at least 4 days per week for an hour-and-a-half per sessio.

Alcohol and Drug Seminar is an educational lecture/discussion session that deals with specific issues pertaining to chemical dependency. Content will vary according to client's needs.
