6 Grammy award nominations matter not to US Embassy officials in London - who have denied her request for a US visa.

Clean and sober for the moment, Amy Winehouse - only 2 weeks after checking into a drug rehab for addiction issues, has been denied a US visa, derailing her plans to perform at the Grammy's later this month.

Winehouse has been nominated for 6 awards, including best new artist, best album and best single. Universal music (her record label) and the Grammy's are hoping to have her perform on the show via satellite. Industry observers speculate a potentially embarrassing night for the Grammy's should Winehouse sweep her awards, leading to 6 no-show podium visits.

Neither US officials nor Winehouse gave reasons for the declined visa, but the travel restrictions come as no real surprise. Winehouse faces drug charges in Norway and only 2 weeks ago, in what seemed to be the catalyst for her admittance to rehab, was seen smoking crack in a widely released video.

A spokesperson for the 24 year old singer reported that she was disappointed with the decision, but was concentrating on her recovery at the moment and was progressing very well.

In a year plagued with personal troubles, including appearing in concert visibly intoxicative and slurring and a drug arrest, Winehouse has achieved tremendous professional success. Her album, "Back to Black" has sold more than 5 million copies worldwide, and her 6 Grammy nominations make her the second most nominated artist of the year, behind only rapper Kayne West.

Winehouse's husband, Blake Fielder-Civil, remains behind bars on charges of obstructing justice. He also faces drug charges in Norway.

Scotland Yard has reported that they are investigating the video that seems to show Winehouse smoking crack, after receiving a copy from The Sun.
