The Oakley Social Model

It is an exceptionally structured program that accounts for each hour spend with students, on every day of the week. Still, Oakley School takes a gentle approach to monitoring and places fewer restrictions than the average residential treatment center, to allow students choices. Hard choices:
Oakley School's life simulator gives students autonomy to make choices while lending crucial support to explore and adjust with each choice they make. This includes autonomy to make choices about the friends they spend time with, who they contact at home when they earn their phone calls, how to adhere to the dress code, or not... their commitment to sobriety, and how to accomplish their schoolwork.
The role of Oakley is to guide and redirect each student, influence and model appropriate behavior and choices in a way that are proactive and positive for each student’s path.
It is healthy and indeed necessary for the students to question their choices, experiment with a good choice and feel the reinforcement and gratification for a good choice. And, the opportunity to make a poor choice and navigate through the lesson and begin to internalize their ownership of what they really need each day.
The program components at Oakley School are well integrated and the staff observes, communicates, and reacts in quick, appropriate ways to identify the choices made by a student. Oakley School also involves the families in the process and coaches them in methods of supporting their son or daughter to learn from each lesson as they prepare for the challenges of young adulthood and their first year of college.
