New Leaf Academy

New Leaf Academy is a boarding school for pre- and early teen girls ages 10-14, providing a therapeutic curriculum in a homelike setting, with campuses in North Carolina and Oregon. This life-changing program is year-round and lasts between 14 and 21 months.

Oregon Campus

The New Life Academy of Oregon private boarding school for girls is located in one of the most beautiful parts of the United States - a short drive from Bend, OR. The campus is surrounded by a beautiful natural scenery. The girl boarding school is divided into two small communities called Sagebrush Neighborhood and Tumbleweed Neighborhood at a campus called Rock Mesa. Each neighborhood has a lovely homelike residence that accommodates 20-45 girls. Classes meet in a historic schoolhouse.

North Carolina Campus

New Leaf Academy of North Carolina is located on hundreds of acres of beautiful wilderness in the world famous Blue Ridge mountain range with its breathtakingly beautiful hardwood forests, near the cities of Asheville, Charlotte, Raleigh and Winston-Salem, NC. The private all-girls boarding school is based in a huge, newly renovated home with beautiful Southern columns and classic architecture. The interior of this boarding school for girls is just as lovely with a massive old-fashioned living room dominated by a large concert-sized piano.

There are nearby rivers and waterfalls to explore, and areas that offer us a chance to hike, camp, ski, sled, rock climb, canoe and water-tube. The climate is perfect for tennis, golf, soccer, and other organized sports.

Safety

Safety is of primary importance to New Leaf Academy. To help ensure that the girls remain safe and secure, the boarding school maintains a 24-hour awake staff, and conducts background checks and drug screens on all employees. Additionally, our facility is well maintained, meets all safety codes, building requirements, and is located within minutes of local emergency facilities and hospitals.

A Personal Approach

At New Leaf Academy girls prep boarding schools each student has her own Individual Academic Plan designed personally for her. Staff members base her plan upon her outcomes from a wide range of assessments that test academic progress and personality. They consider her personal academic history, her individual strengths and weaknesses, and her personal learning style.

Education of the "Whole Child"

The private boarding school's educational philosophy is the development of the whole person: socially and emotionally as well as academically. For this reason academic and counseling staff members work closely together and discuss each student's progress at least once weekly.

Developing Seven Kinds of Intelligence

New Leaf Academy recognizes Harvard professor Howard Gardner's work that human intelligence is multi-dimensional and that teachers can develop lessons for each of the following:

A Traditional College Preparatory Curriculum

New Leaf Academy offers a solid grounding in English, Mathematics, Social Studies, and Science. Students can also choose between a wide range of courses like journalism, astronomy, foreign language and computer science as well as a variety of art and physical education classes.

A Proven Record of Achievement

Students study in small classes with individual attention from their teachers. They complete between one and one a half-hours of supervised homework per day. Most students gain between one and four years of grade level improvement during their time at New Leaf Academy.

Accreditations

The academic program of New Leaf Academy in Oregon is accredited by the Northwest Association of Schools and Colleges. It is a member of the National Association of Therapeutic Schools and Programs (NATSAP).

The academic program of New Leaf Academy in North Carolina is accredited by the North Carolina Non-Public Schools Association and is licensed for special education by the North Carolina Department of Education, Special Needs Division.
