Teenage Drug & Alcohol Addiction Treatment

Echo Malibu offers teenagers and their families intensive, holistic adolescent rehab programs. All treatment participants are offered an individualized treatment plan designed and implemented by licensed clinical professionals. Echo Malibu identifies and treats the underlying causes of addiction, rather than focusing on the resulting behavioral symptoms.

While all of Echo Malibu's youth treatment programs is unique, they do share the following areas of focus:

Length Of Stay

The regular duration of our residential teen rehab programs is 30 days. However, it is important to understand that there are no short-cuts to sobriety and in working together with program participants and families Echo Malibu's therapists may recommend longer term treatments to ensure permanent recovery from an addiction.

Admission Screening Process

Echo Malibu is committed to a stringent screening process to ensure a safe treatment environment. Many teenage treatment programs do not screen participants, and as a result, your son or daughter may be exposed to unnecessary dangers and destructive behaviors by peers. A history of putting others at risk will prevent a teenager from entering the program - all clients accepted into the Echo Malibu residential rehab are deemed to be a good fit by professional admission counselors.

Spacious Rooms

Echo Malibu offers both private and shared rooms. If you would prefer to reserve your own room, please inform our admissions team to ensure there is space available for your stay.

Assessment Process

Echo Malibu follows an individualized treatment philosophy, and it is imparative that the treatment team learns as much as possible about every teenager entering the program. Upon admission, every participant meets with the Medical Director, a Board Certified Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist with a specialty in Addictionology, a licensed clinical psychologist for a psychological assessment, a case manager for a social assessment and our Director of Education for an educational assessment.

One-on-One Sessions

All Echo Malibu residential program participants receive individual one-on-one sessions every day throughout the duration of the treatment program. While group sessions can be effective, too, many important issues may go unaddressed in a teenage program that relies heavily on this modality.

12 Steps Program

Echo Malibu integrates the twelve steps as an important component of their treatment program. Participants are introduced to the twelve steps and attend some 12 steps meetings. However, it is only one component of Echo Malibu's treatment program and underlying clinical factors that can impact addictive behaviors and relapse are addressed separately.

Family Participation

Echo Malibu offers Parent Effectiveness Training, Individual Family Sessions and Multi-Family Groups. The rehab team is available to answer questions and provide support to families around the clock, for families who currently have a loved one in treatment and as an after care service for families who have had a loved one complete treatment at Echo.

Family visits take place on Saturdays. If you are unable to attend on Saturday and wish to make special arrangements to visit on another day, the center will accommodate you.

Family members may be unable to participate in all aspects of treatment as a result of work commitments, geographic location or other factors. Therefore Echo Malibu also provides services by telephone or other means where necessary.

Court-Ordered Rehab

Echo Malibu has professionals on staff that are uniquely equipped to assist you if your son or daughter needs to attend treatment as a direct result of legal difficulties. Echo Malibu's court liaison is a psychologist who has served as a jury consultant for many high profile cases in Los Angeles. Echo Malibu also has multiple professionals on staff who played key roles in the development and implementation of the Los Angeles Juvenile Drug Court. The center further has well established relationships with judges throughout the nation and abroad. Echo Malibu knows what a court is looking for to ensure a teenager received proper treatment resulting in lasting changes.

Aftercare

The life at home, outside of the residential treatment center, remains the center point of all treatment efforts at Echo Malibu. The counselors begin planning a teenager's return home on the day the participant enter treatment. Every group and one-on-one session is designed to offer knowledge and skills that can directly be applied to life back home. Formal and informal support systems are developed here to aid in maintaining sobriety. Echo Malibu remains available to program participants for support and aftercare for as long as it is needed.
