Family Involvement

With over twenty three years of experience treating substance abuse at our California drug rehab, the staff at Sunrise Recovery Ranch is intimately familiar with how the family of the man who is drinking or abusing drugs can be torn apart.

There are the mothers and fathers who suffer through sleepless nights worrying about the well being of their son. There is often a spouse or significant other who has experienced the hurtful and irresponsible actions of the man whose behavior is shaped by his chemical dependency. Children of men who are alcoholic or abusing drugs often exhibit mood disorders and suffer greatly because of the abuse and neglect that occurs in a home where drugs or alcohol are being abused.

The mothers, fathers, and spouses of the men who arrive here in sunny Riverside, California know that underneath the careless and hurtful actions of the substance abusing man is their child, husband, or boyfriend whose life is controlled by their drug of choice. The stress and hopelessness that comes as a result of caring for someone who is suffering from alcoholism or drug addiction is damaging and can destroy lives.

Structure and Discipline for the Man in Treatment

As soon as the man arrives here in Southern California, he will be screened and assessed by our intake department and an admissions counselor will begin the process of designing an individualized treatment program.

Every man at our treatment facility has tasks that he must complete with all of the other men which help foster responsibility and accountability. Our experience has shown that by keeping all of the men working together forms a bond of fellowship - even with the staff (many of whom are in recovery themselves).

When the men wake up at 5:45 and are taught to make their bed neatly, their day starts on a positive note and their self esteem begins to build immediately. Throughout the day they continue by participating in positive recovery oriented activities, including physical activities that break up the workshops, support groups, and therapy sessions. The men will be required to keep their area clean, and wash their own laundry correctly. Other household chores help build structure and discipline into the man's life which greatly aids in recovery.

A Program of Recovery - For the Entire Family

The treatment program at Sunrise Recovery Ranch is designed to provide help for the entire family system which is integrated into the recovery process. For the first two weeks the man who is admitted to our recovery program will not have telephone access as part of his treatment program, but the case manager and treatment team will be in touch with the family of our male client immediately and often.

The clinical staff at our Riverside drug rehab for men is here for you to patiently answer questions you will have about your loved one's recovery. We also have twenty three years of building a nationwide network of mental health professionals and have the ability to refer you to highly regarded therapists, doctors, psychiatrists, psychologists, and addictionologists in your area should you seek further treatment or information. After the initial "no contact" period the family is welcome to come to Southern California and attend group family counseling sessions at our treatment facility. We feel that the family can be an integral part of the man's long term recovery program and we welcome the family into the man's "wheel of treatment."

No more sleepless nights

Men who come to Sunrise Recovery Ranch will quickly clear their mind of the drug that is controlling their lives and see that they must work on their recovery to begin a new life that is greater than they could have ever imagined.

While the man is at our treatment center, the family can rest assured that he is in a safe and supervised location without access to drugs or alcohol. After two weeks the family has the option of visiting the man at our treatment facility in Riverside to participate in the man's recovery program and be a part of the man's new life free of drugs and alcohol.
