Therapy
Oakley is a clinical boarding school and therapy is integrated daily and weekly into each student’s schedule by professionally certified therapists and counselors holding master's or doctorate degrees.

At the Oakley School, students claim the power of their emotions and learn to exercise intuition, creating balance with the analytical and reasonable aspects of themselves. They learn to be sensitive to their own needs and to the emotions of others, as well. Wholeness, accountability, and understanding result.
Through the support services of Oakley's certified counselors and therapists, students at Oakley School follow a cohesive therapeutic plan that turns stumbling blocks into stepping stones.
Therapeutic Curriculum
- Individualized, strategic counseling is required on an ongoing basis to assist students in taking full advantage of all elements of the Oakley program. Students are required to sign up for a minimum of two individualized therapeutic sessions per month (or more when needed) and the given the opportunity to check in weekly with their therapist.
- Family therapy is scheduled on opposite weeks of individual sessions with the parents, therapist and student held via telephone conference calls.
- Group therapy is scheduled a minimum of 4 times per week, broken into small school wide focus groups, dorm specific groups, and gender specific groups.
- Each dorm comes together twice a day. The students start each morning with a Sun-Up gathering prior to departing for breakfast, and a Sun-Down gathering at the end of the evening prior to lights out. These gatherings are designed to do a soft check in with each student and to address personal and living environment concerns that naturally arise with our students and dorm life.
- Recovery meetings are held five nights a week for students who need recovery support and each student designs the amount of support and meeting they need during the first initial weeks at Oakley. Students participate in 12 Step meetings on and off campus. Nearly Everything Anonymous encompasses substance use, codependent behaviors, and many of the addictive issues our students face. Most students attend a minimum of one meeting per week and a 12 Step meeting of their choice.
