I have a co-worker who drinks every day at work, all day long. He doesnt seem to get drunk, but he is also the one who drives me to and from work everyday. Some days he asks me if he can get a shot in the morning before work, at like 830 am!! I am concerned for his health, but also for my safety with him driving. I have spoke to him about my concerns to no avail. What would you suggest I do?

Hi there and thanks very much for your question. What you're describing is completely consistent with alcoholism. There's no question that your coworker is alcohol dependent and there is also no question that you are putting yourself in harm's way by riding with him. I'd urge you to find an alternate form of transportation. Id also encourage you to share your concerns with the human resources department of your company and/or your immediate supervisor. Your coworker is heading toward a very dangerous place in his life and his health is undeniably compromised. o say nothing is to enable and I encourage you to consider it an act of kindness to NOT protect him from the natural consequences of his actions.
