Ultram Detox - Tramadol Withdrawal Pains

Ultram (tramadol HCL) is synthetic codeine that is prescribed for moderate to severe pain management. It has been touted as a less addictive but still effective pain medication, with a very low probability for abuse.

Pharmaceutical company estimates put the percentage that will have difficulty with stopping to use Ultram at 3%. Anecdotal reports suggest a much greater percentage of users are becoming dependent, and experiencing serious withdrawal pains when they attempt to quit.

Ultram induces a very pleasant high. Users report variable analgesic efficacy, but most people find the psychological effects very attractive – which makes the medication prone to abuse.

What Are the Symptoms of an Ultram Withdrawal?

Dependent users will feel withdrawal symptoms within a day of attempting to quit and these physical withdrawal symptoms will last for about a week. Psychological symptoms of the withdrawal include depression, and the legacy of depression may last for months.

The symptoms of an Ultram detox include:

  • Pain
  • Depression
  • Muscle aches
  • Restless leg syndrome
  • Insomnia
  • Nausea
  • Depression
  • Others

How to Quit

Although Ultram is not technically an opiate, it derives its effects through the activation of opiate receptors in the brain, has effects similar to that of an opiate, and induces withdrawal symptoms very much like all other opiates. As such, it is unsurprising that the methods used to detox off of all other opiates are also effective for an Ultram detox.

Addicted users may choose to stop completely, end endure the pains of detox (either alone or under medical supervision), they may attempt to gradually reduce their dosage (taper off) or they may take a substitute narcotic, such as suboxone.

Anyone who has become addicted on Ultram after taking the drug to get high will likely also require addiction treatment therapies.

What to expect when quitting Ultram or tramadol.
