After rehab?
Back to the document's frontpageRecovery from cocaine addiction is a lifelong process, and as such cocaine treatment must continue for life. Many addicts find strength and solace within an organization like Narcotics Anonymous, and others may prefer continuing individual counseling, or another form of peer support.
Further cocaine use cannot be tolerated
The temptation to use will never fade entirely, and without continuing treatment the prognosis for continued abstinence is not great. Additionally, the social support of a loving family and close friends can make the difference between success and further abuse, and as such loved ones must become engaged in the relapse prevention and further treatment of the recovering addict.
Breaking free from the hold of a cocaine addiction is tough, but not impossible. The devastation wrought by cocaine abuse does not leave any acceptable alternative but success, and addicts must be encouraged to remain in treatment for as long as is necessary.
A life with cocaine is not a worthy life, and the odds of a long and productive life while continuing to use are non existent. Further cocaine use cannot be tolerated, and an addict must consider an intensive residential cocaine rehab setting as their best available option. Cocaine addiction is severe, destructive and saddening; and recovery, as long as that takes, can be the only acceptable goal.
